Middle schoolers at Peabody-Burns and Marion challenged each other to see who would have the largest % of students improve their FastBridge screener scores from Fall '23 to Spring '24. The winning school got to pie the losing school's principal in the face. Peabody-Burns won in Reading and Marion won in Math.

Congratulations to our two fifth grade students, Hannah and Knox, for winning the 2024 Citizenship Award. This award goes to one girl and one boy in the 5th grade class that is voted on by teachers for possessing strength of character, school & community leadership, & promoting citizenship. Congratulations Hannah & Knox!

Saying it was an emotional day at PBES would be a huge understatement! We began our day with some fun at our final assembly to more fun with Mr. Chris at Field Day. We ate our annual lunch provided by Mr. Butler and took a breath with some relaxing in the afternoon. We ended our day with 5th grade reminder gifts and saying , "See you later" to our 5th graders. There were a lot of laughs, smiles, snores, and tears, but reliving those memories through the years will never be forgotten. Congratulations to our 5th grade students as they move on to the Jr/Sr High School. Go be amazing!

Thanks to Health Ministries we were able to get almost 40 of our students free sports physicals!

On Friday, our senior class continued the ongoing tradition of walking the hallways of the elementary school. After the walk, our seniors partnered with a kindergarten student to explain the importance of graduating high school and what it takes to get there. Our kinders and seniors both signed an "Intent to Graduate" certificate making a promise to fulfill the duties and responsibilities required to receive a high school diploma in the year 2036. Thank you seniors for being role models for our youth and congratulations! Go do big things!

Core Community is in need of Child Care Workers. See the flier for more details.

Today the 1st graders got to explore the Wichita Art Museum!! They enjoyed creating their own art and discovering 3-D and 2-D shapes in the art work that was displayed.

Mr. Hughes and Mrs. Kyle's 7th and 8th grade Social Studies classes traveled to Topeka on Wednesday to tour the Ritchie House and the Brown v. Board of Education museums. They furthered their knowledge of the Underground Railroad, segregation, and Equal Rights. They represented our school well!!!

Third grade has been engaged in another fun project. Each student read a Tree House Mystery and other books, then created a diorama of the setting. They did a fantastic job!

The music department is so busy this time of year (elementary concert on Monday night, all school parade on May 10th, graduation on May 12th), that I forgot to post about how awesome the girls did at state solo/small ensemble held at Hesston College on April 27th. The trio (Katy, Angie, and Samantha) and Maddy both received a 1 rating. Great job and so proud of all of you!

Graduation for the Class of 2024 will be on May 12th at 4:00 pm. The ceremony will take place in the Brown Gym.
