We’ll talk about the digital world our children navigate, including popular apps, gaming, social media, and potential online risks. You’ll leave with practical ideas to help keep children safe and build healthy online habits.

Our students explored the Expo Hall, visiting with agricultural businesses and several colleges about future opportunities—and picking up a few freebies along the way! They also browsed the FFA Shopping Mall and watched participants compete in the preliminary rounds of the Creed Speaking event.
The day wrapped up with the opening session at Lucas Oil Stadium before heading back to the hotel and out for dinner. Plenty to explore and take in at National FFA Convention!

Rooms is ready!
Since July, we have been working to reestablish our Apple Developer account so we could get Rooms up and running in our Peabody-Burns app. That process is finally complete, and we’re ready to get everyone connected!
Staff, students, and parents: please update your Peabody-Burns app, log in, and begin using Rooms for school communication. Rooms will be our district’s two-way communication platform, keeping school messages together in one place.

💙🖤 A new month and plenty happening in Warrior Country! Here’s a look at the next TWO weeks—from music and football to Scholars Bowl and honoring our veterans. Mark your calendars, come cheer on our students, and remember there’s no school Monday, November 9, for staff development!
🏁 Our FFA trip recap continues with a Tuesday stop at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway!
After leaving Terre Haute, our students headed to Indianapolis, where they took a trip around the famous track and explored its history at the museum. From race cars dating back to the 1910s to memorabilia worn and used by past drivers, there was plenty to see. Racing simulators and remote-control cars gave them a chance to get in on the action, too!
Then it was off to the convention center to pick up badges before checking in at the hotel and getting ready for a nice dinner. A full day of history, horsepower, and new experiences!

🎃 Our robotics students are bringing their Halloween creations to life! Stop by Trunk or Treat in downtown Peabody on October 31 from 5:30–7:00 p.m. to see their animatronics in action. Student volunteers will be there to help run the robots and show off their work! 🤖

We’re taking a look back at last week’s trip to the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, Indiana! Two Peabody-Burns students and their FFA sponsor made the journey, with a memorable stop along the way.
They left PB Jr./Sr. High Monday morning and headed to St. Louis, where the students traveled to the top of the Gateway Arch for a bird’s-eye view of the city! Then it was back on the road to Terre Haute, Indiana, for the night.
We’ll be sharing more highlights from their FFA adventure in the days ahead!

Just a reminder that the elementary parade and parties are this Friday, October 30 at 2:30. Morning Pre-school will have their walk around starting at 10:10 that morning. The parade will be moved inside in the case that it is raining.

We are super excited to offer a “Little Sports Day” again this year! We will be at Marion’s Athletic Complex building on the south end of the football field (305 Eisenhower Street in Marion). This is a come and go event from 10:00am to 12:00pm on Saturday, November 14th.
We will have 4 stations with “Little Sports” set up for your little ones and a fun sport activity to take home and make together. Looking forward to seeing you there!

🎃 A short week with plenty of fall fun! From picture retakes to Halloween parties and a parade, here’s what’s ahead at Peabody-Burns. Remember—no school Monday, October 26! 💙🖤
Students in 3rd grade science class got to build electromagnetic cranes out of string, spools, blocks, wire, bolts and batteries! They were able to use their cranes to pick up paper clips, and move them into a pile. This activity was a STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) activity. We also learned where and how electromagnetic cranes are used in the real world.
Electromagnetic cranes use electric currents to make loops around a piece of magnetic material. This current aligns the stuff in the magnetic material allowing it to be used as a magnet. The more loops and the tighter the loops are wound, the stronger the magnet.

Mark your calendars! Thursday, October 29 is Retake Picture Day and Class Portrait Day at Peabody‑Burns Elementary. Every student will be included in a class photo, and any student who missed Picture Day or wants a new individual photo will have the chance to take retakes.
Parents/guardians who placed an order should send the Picture Package, including the envelope, to school on Retake Day. Please ensure the package is given to the photographer, so they have the information they need to replace the original picture with the retake. Our photographers need the Original Picture Packages to produce the Retake Picture Package.
