Concerning the CDC announcement:

At USD 398 Public Schools we will continue to wear masks until the end of the year. With this being a school setting, it is important to recognize the following reasons;

  • The students are not vaccinated. In order to prevent spread between student to student, student to home, and student to staff, masks need to be maintained.
  • In conjunction with the student issue already mentioned, some staff members have not been vaccinated. Masks will need to be maintained because this involves their safety also.
  • We only have 6 contact days left, but we have activities such as baseball & softball, track, music programs, promotions & graduations, field day, etc. We do not want to jeopardize these activities.

It is in our best interest to maintain safety guidelines since most of our daily contacts have not been vaccinated. The district will maintain the policy that has served the students & public since the first day of school.

A reminder that MASKS ARE REQUIRED in order to attend all upcoming indoor activities.

Thank you for understanding and complying for a few more weeks.

Ron Traxson, Superintendent USD 398 Peabody-Burns
