I would like to make the announcement that rather than coming back for the extended 3 days of May 24-26th. The last day for students will be May 21st. Teachers and staff will remain on duty until May 27th.
Students have been great this year while adjusting to a new norm. Peabody-Burns Public Schools and its staff and students have done an outstanding job of following practices that have kept students in the classroom. Because of this we will be making this change to our last day of school.
Changes to note are; 1) 8th grade promotion will be move from the 25th to Thursday, May 20th, and 2) the PBES Butler Picnic will be on May 21st.
Part of the reasoning for this is planning for the August “JumpStart” program planning. This program will be held August 2-12th for students to begin the 2021-22 school year with a “leg up” on their studies. This will be great for all students, but extremely important to those students involved in remote or homeschooling this past year. After the upcoming planning session there will be more information available. Contact your child’s building administrator for information on this.
There are still a lot of details in the works, and information will be provided later. But for now, the last year of the school year has been moved from the 26th to the 21st.
Mr. Traxson, Superintendent of Schools
